TONE QUALITY, INTONATION & BREATH CONTROL:

  • LONG TONES (every day if possible):
  • Hold notes out, count and mark your “scorecard“
  • Long tones to a tuner. No need to mark your scorecard. Try to stay in tune as best you can > T1 tuner app
  • STARTING EACH NOTE:
  • Tonguing the notes. Start notes with “tu” or “too” and keep steady airspeed.
  • LEARNING NEW SONGS:
  • Before playing, name the notes while fingering.  This good habit will set you up to learn new songs fast!
  • You can use the book or a fingering chart if you see new notes or if you’re learning new notes.
